108. Book of Mormon: Mesoamerica

Daniel Johnson was my guest. As LDS, he has had much interest in the Book of Mormon, especially research into the archaeology and history of Book of Mormon lands, referring to Mesoamerica.

He is the principal author of An LDS Guide to Mesoamerica and the upcoming An LDS Guide to the Yucatan.

Of course, we, including a number of callers, discussed this topic from several angles.

His blog is very interesting including many photos of Mesoamerica.

Mormon Doctrine: Mandatory and Forbidden

For various reasons many insist that there is much mandatory doctrine required of Mormons and much forbidden doctrine. Drawing from many sources and such enlightening examples as the Adam God theory and Polygamy, I demonstrate that, from its beginning, the LDS Church has had very little official doctrine and almost no mandatory or forbidden doctrine.
