Mike Haxton, an ex-Mormon Bishop

We discussed the 1611 King James Bible which Haxton claims was superintended by God and is God’s word in English. We pursued the question of which KJV is God’s word since it was 6000 verses longer in 1611 than the editions published today. Haxton denied this. We discussed the modern translations, I argued for their value, he contended that they contain the word of God, but they are not the word of God as is the KJV.

We also discussed his stated view that salvation comes by grace through faith, nothing more and nothing less. In this discussion Haxton did, however, express his view that repentance and obedience to God’s commands are required for salvation.

The controversial topic of the Trinity was considered briefly.

Great and informative program. I respect Mike Haxton’s approach to Mormonism wherein he says he is not interested in criticizing or tearing down the LDS church. I see this as a very christ-like thing to do. Im sure he a good christian man. Enjoyable program.
